Accounts, tax, audit and payroll from Chartered Certified Accountants and Registered Auditors. You deal directly with the people who do the work, and every answer comes in plain English.
What we do
Year-end accounts and tax returns are the start. Payroll, VAT, audit and company filings run through the same office, so nothing falls between two firms.
Who we help
GMS payments, RCT, VAT on food and drink, farm succession: the rules change from one sector to the next, and so do the questions. Start with yours.
How it works
Pick a time on our booking page or ring 041 685 3162. Tell us about your business, where things stand and what you need help with.
Before anything starts, you get the scope, the deadlines and the fee in writing, so there are no surprises.
Moving from another accountant? We ask them for what we need and link to your Revenue record as your tax agent, so the switch takes little of your time.

AI Integration & Business Automation
M.A. Whately's newest service, alongside accounts, tax and audit. Adrian Capraru connects your accounting software, bank, CRM and email, and automates the admin that does not need a person, so your team gets its hours back. He designed and built the firm's own platform, the M.A. Whately Suite.
"I designed and built every page, flow and safeguard in the M.A. Whately Suite. If a system touches your business data, I know exactly where it goes."
Adrian Capraru, Director of AI & Business Automation
Your data stays in Ireland. The Suite runs on servers in Dublin with its database in Ireland, under EU data protection law. Each business is walled off from every other, and every action is logged.
A person signs off. AI can read a receipt or draft a reply. Nothing is filed with Revenue or sent to a customer without your approval.

Testimonials
My experience with M.A. Whately has been fantastic, in fact it couldn’t have been better. Their extensive knowledge, experience and dedicated team make them a pleasure to work with. They are truly EXCELLENT, they really go above and beyond the standard duty of an accountant. They are a team you can trust. A BIG THANK YOU to the whole team!
Paul and the team have been absolutely fantastic to work with. I initially sought his services purely for accounting purposes but as time has passed, I have realised his depth of knowledge surrounding business planning, strategy and marketing has been invaluable to my new physiotherapy clinic.
The team at M.A. Whately offer a very professional and helpful service. As a new start up business, we had plenty of questions and there has always been somebody on the other end of the phone/email to answer us, no matter what the question! More than just an accountant they really work with building and growing your business. A pleasure to deal with and a wonderful supportive service!

VAT registration threshold Ireland 2026: €42,500 for services, €85,000 for goods. How the calendar-year test works, when to register and how to apply.
Yes. The office is on Jervis Street in Ardee, Co. Louth, and the firm works with businesses across Louth, Meath and the rest of Ireland. Most of the work runs by phone and email, and you are welcome to meet the team at the office.
It depends on the work: your business type, how many transactions you have, whether you are VAT-registered or run payroll, and the state of your records. A sole trader with tidy books needs far less time than a company with staff and VAT. How our fees work explains each factor.
Usually not. You can change at any point in the year. The new accountant asks the previous one for last year's accounts, tax returns and working papers, and links to your Revenue record as your tax agent. Your part is mostly signing an authority and sending your records.
Not if it is a small company: for financial years beginning on or after 1 January 2024, a company can claim audit exemption if it meets two of these three limits: turnover up to €15 million, balance sheet up to €7.5 million, and up to 50 employees. Filing the annual return late twice in five years can cost the exemption. Check if you need an audit.

The 2025 Form 11 return, any balance of 2025 income tax and 2026 preliminary tax are due on 31 October 2026. If you both pay and file through ROS, the deadline is 18 November 2026.

When your turnover passes, or is likely to pass, €42,500 in a calendar year for services, or €85,000 if 90% or more of your turnover comes from selling goods. You can also choose to register below these limits.
